New Line
of Sockets Protects Delicate Image Sensor Devices During
Board Processing
West
Warwick, RI, December 15, 2004 - Advanced recently
introduced a line of image sensor sockets, designed to reduce
costs by protecting valuable image sensors from damage during
board assembly and processing. Standard, footprint-specific and
custom configurations are available for virtually any
application from scanners to security systems to satellite
imaging. As with any sockets from Advanced, this new line
features high quality screw-machined terminals and
multi-fingered contacts for long-term durability in even the
most demanding applications. Standard sockets are available in
FR-4 insulators in thru-hole and surface mount designs. Other
options include molded or Peel-A-Way® insulators and lead-free
designs.
Benefits of using
an image sensor socket include:
- Protect
sensor performance by inserting after the reflow soldering
process.
- Eliminate
the chance for damage to valuable sensors during board
assembly caused by prolonged exposure to heat and errant
solder flux on glass components.
- Reduce costs
by eliminating the need for glass cleaning operations.
- Plan for
device shortages or future upgrades by designing a socket
onto your board.
